George Duke – Master of the Game 

En 1979, George Duke retrouve Lynn Davis sur « I Want You for Myself », le single captivant qui fait de Master of the Game un de ses albums les plus vendus. Ce disque contient quelques titres Jazz Fusion (comme « Dog Man » et son influence latine), mais l’ensemble s’oriente avant tout vers le R&B. « I Want You for Myself » et « Every Little Step I Take » (que les Stylistics n’auraient pas renié)  sont de véritables classiques.

Bitter Tears est un album concept de Johnny Cash. Enregistré en 1964, et comme le titre le sous-entend, ce disque évoque les problèmes que doivent affronter les Indiens d’Amérique aux États Unis. Le tout remporte un certain succès commercial : « The Ballad of Ira Hayes », qui raconte l’histoire d’Ira Hayes, jeune homme issu du peuple Pima qui rejoint les Marines pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, culmine à la 3ème place du Top Country.

The Sky Is Crying (1991) est le 5ème album studio regroupant des performances de Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble glanées tout au long de leur carrière. Commercialisé un an après la disparition de Vaughan en 1990, ce disque contient 10 chansons inédites, enregistrées entre 1984 et 1989.
